Your Half Pictures has acquired the rights to Eddie Would Go by Stuart Holmes Coleman, the biography of late big-wave surfer and Hawaiian hero Eddie Aikau, to produce as a major motion picture.

A shy and humble man by nature, Eddie Aikau became larger than life ocean. As a surfer, he rode the biggest waves in the world. As a lifeguard he saved hundreds of lives from the North Shore’s treacherous waters. And as a proud Hawaiian he sailed aboard the Polynesian voyaging canoe, the Hokule, only to sacrifice his life saving the lives of the craft’s 16-member canoe after capsizing during a storm.

In honor of his life, the State of Hawaii appointed March 17 as Eddie Aikau day in 2004.

More than the story of a courageous waterman, Eddie Would Go is also the story of modern Hawaii and Eddie’s role in the Hawaiian Renaissance of the 1970’s. The story of Eddie Aikau extends far beyond the world of surfing, serving as a gateway to an entire glorious culture.

The film is in active development with Ryan Harper, Rusty Gray, Eric Arlt and Josh R. Jaggars attached as producers.
